Quick answer

What is Magazakim?

Magazakim is the developing local-hospitality side of Amazing Villas in Crete. It is meant to bring together selected Cretan products, the producers behind them, food and route content for the Rethymno area, the Cretan Breakfast Basket that already comes with every direct booking, and the way the land around Asteri is worked.

Current status · In development

It is not a shop yet, and we are not pretending it is

There is no store, no online ordering and no certified programme behind this page today. What you can already have during a stay is listed further down. Everything else appears here only once it exists, works, and someone is responsible for it.

More than a product shelf

A product should not be here because it looks Cretan. It should have a maker, a place, a story and a reason to matter while you are staying in one of the houses. Some of this will stay as reading only. Some may become something you can ask for. The difference should always be visible.

What belongs here

  • products with a producer, a place and permission to publish them
  • the stories of the people who make them
  • food and route content that helps you plan, not a list for the sake of a list
  • the Cretan Breakfast Basket, as it works today
  • the villa gardens, the olive groves and the citrus trees, as they really are worked

What does not

  • a souvenir shelf or unrelated stock
  • “authentic”, “organic” or “regenerative” used as decoration
  • other people’s offers without their permission and a current status
  • anything added only to rank in a search engine
  • any suggestion that the villas are a restaurant, a farm, a shop or an event venue
Four local connections

The four parts being built

  • Traditional Cretan yoghurt with thyme honey.
    In development

    Cretan Products

Yoghurt and thyme honey, olive oil, cheese, herbs, raki. Each one has to come with a producer, a place and a reason it belongs in a villa kitchen before it appears here.

  • How tsikoudia (raki) used to be distilled in the villages: a copper still over a wood fire, in a stone-built hearth in the yard.
    In development

    Producers and Places

The people behind the products, and where they work. Their name, their photograph and their story go online only when they have agreed to it.

  • A Cretan lunch at Villa Asteri. A private chef can be arranged at every villa, on request.
    Editorial

    Taste Crete

Food culture, seasons and routes: what is harvested when, what is eaten where, and how to find it while you are here. This part is reading, not a booking.

  • Olive-harvest time: nets spread under a laden tree.
    In development

    The Land Around Asteri

The villa gardens and the family olive and citrus trees, and how they could be worked with more care for soil, water and the life in them. We would rather do it first and write about it after.

Each part carries its own status. Nothing here can be booked or bought from this page.

What you can have today

Three things are real now, and they do not depend on Magazakim.

The Cretan Breakfast Basket

Included with every direct booking, at every villa and for all dates, without a separate request or a minimum stay. Local products from small Cretan producers: olive oil, cheese, olives, bread, paximadi, jam, fruit and herbs. Contents and quantities vary with the season; it is a Cretan breakfast, not a full food shop.

Groceries before you arrive

If you would rather not start with a supermarket, send Argyris your shopping list and it can be waiting in the kitchen. The final list is confirmed at least two days before you arrive.

Tastings and a private chef

Olive oil or wine tasting in the garden, or a chef who cooks in the villa kitchen. Both are arranged on request for your dates, not booked from this page.

What has to happen first

Magazakim will open one piece at a time, and each piece has to pass the same four steps before it appears on this page.

  1. Product and producer recordsName, origin, producer, story, status and the date it was last checked. No card goes online without them.
  2. Food safety and labellingAllergens, storage, shelf life and handling settled before anything is offered.
  3. A clear operating modelWho prepares what, where it is kept, how it reaches you, and what happens if it is not available.
  4. Then, and only then, a public offerWith its own status on the page: active, on request, or still in development.

When something is ready, it will be here with its status on it — and if you want to know where it stands right now, ask.

FAQ

Questions about Magazakim

What is Magazakim?

Opening in May 2027. A developing Amazing Villas in Crete concept, designed to connect guests with selected Cretan products, local producers, food stories and the land around Asteri Village.

Is Magazakim open now?

No. It is in development. Products, producer stories and guest services will be published here only after each one is confirmed.

Is it a shop, or an online shop?

Neither, for now. There is no shop, no online store and no checkout. What the final form will be — physical, online, or both — has not been decided.

Can I buy products online?

No. There is no ordering system on this site, and no prices, stock or delivery are promised anywhere on this page.

Is the Cretan Breakfast Basket available?

Yes. The Cretan Breakfast Basket is included with every direct booking, at every villa and for all dates, without a separate request or a minimum stay. Contents and quantities vary with the season; it is not a full grocery supply. Extra groceries can be pre-stocked on request, with the final shopping list confirmed at least two days before arrival.

Is the Breakfast Basket the same as a welcome basket?

No. They are two different things, and we do not use the two names for the same thing.

Are local products guaranteed during my stay?

No. Anything beyond the Breakfast Basket depends on the season, the producer and confirmation for your dates. Ask Argyris before you count on it.

Can you arrange a tasting or a visit to a producer?

Olive oil and wine tastings in the garden, and a private chef at the villa, are arranged on request. Visits to other people’s farms or workshops are never guaranteed — they depend on the people who run them.

What does the land around Asteri have to do with it?

The family has gardens and olive and citrus trees near the villas. How they are worked, and what that could mean for the food on your table, is part of the concept — but it is being done before it is described.

How will I know what is actually available?

Every item on this page will carry its own status, and for anything else, ask Argyris. He usually replies within 12 hours.

Ask what is available for your dates

Magazakim is being built step by step. Tell Argyris when you are coming and what interests you — local products, a tasting, a chef, or the food side of the area — and he will tell you what is actually possible.
