Stay near Agreco Farm: Private Villas for Wedding Guests

A wedding at Agreco Farm is more than one evening. Guests need a base for arriving in Crete, getting ready, travelling to the venue and enjoying the morning after. The right stay depends on how the group lives together, not on which pin looks closest on a map.

Where Wedding Guests Stay

Agreco Farm has no rooms on site. The venue suggests Grecotel resorts in Rethymno; many families and groups prefer a private villa nearby instead. Venue directories usually list nearby hotels. This guide answers the questions they leave open:

Villa Kitron: the house and its private pool with integrated hydromassage.

Villa Myrrini: the pool at sunset.
Villa Myrrini: the pool at sunset.
  • Who stays together: which households share a villa.
  • How much privacy: who needs their own home, bedroom or bathroom.
  • How everyone gets back: the journey home after the celebration.

Accommodation only: the villas are places to stay, not a wedding or event venue. Ceremonies, receptions and parties take place at the venue.

How Wedding Groups Book

ArrangementHow it is bookedWorks well when
One or two villas for the two familiesThe couple books the villasParents and siblings need somewhere calm to get ready; two villas give each side its own house on the wedding morning
Separate villas by householdEach household books a villa in its own name, with its own dates, booking and paymentGuests choose for themselves: a nearby villa, a hotel or an apartment in town
MAZI: two or three villasOne coordinated enquiry and one combined proposal; each villa then keeps its own booking reference and paymentSeveral households travel far and want to stay in one village, up to 12, 14 or 20 guests

Who pays? Usually the couple pays for the villas they book for the two families, and every other household pays for its own stay. Whatever you decide, say it clearly when you share the accommodation with your guests.

One Villa, Two Villas or MAZI?

ChooseWhen
One villaThe people travelling together already form one household: one family, three couples or a small group of friends
Two villasEach family or close household prefers its own home, without sharing a kitchen or a bathroom schedule on the wedding morning
MAZI, three villasSeveral households want to stay close: grandparents rest in one home, families with children keep their own routine, friends get ready in another
Villa Asteri from above: the stone house, both pools and the enclosed garden.

An example for 20 guests

The point is not reaching 20. It is giving each household a clear home, bedroom plan and set of keys before arrival. Guests can get ready for the wedding at the villas; the ceremony and reception take place at the venue.

Do Wedding Guests Need a Car?

  • On the wedding night: no. Plan a private transfer there and back, so nobody drives after the celebration.
  • For the rest of the stay: a car is recommended for beaches, Rethymno, shopping and day trips. See Do You Need a Car in Crete?

Getting to the Wedding and Back

Our recommendation: book a private transfer to the ceremony and reception and back to the villas. Guests may drink during the celebration, and this way nobody needs to drive afterwards. Leave the hire cars at the villa. Do not leave the return until the wedding night: late at night, taxis may not be available straight away.

Before the wedding day, agree:

  • the pre-booked driver or group vehicle, both ways;
  • the departure time from the villa and the meeting point;
  • the pickup point and approximate return time at the venue;
  • if a group uses its own car, the person who will not drink.

Transport is not included in the villa stay. Argyris can introduce you to independent local providers for car hire, private transfers or larger vehicles. The provider confirms availability, vehicle, accessibility, price, payment and cancellation terms directly with you.

Arriving via Chania or Heraklion Airport

Airports and the villasCrete with Chania airport to the west and Heraklion airport to the east. Two airports, both an easy drive. The villas are between Chania airport (approx. 79 km) and Heraklion airport (approx. 73 km). Choose the airport with the flights that suit you best.

Both airports are an easy drive along the north-coast highway: Heraklion (HER) is approx. 73 km from the villas and Chania (CHQ) approx. 79 km. Choose the one whose flights suit you best. If several guests land around the same time, ask Argyris about a coordinated private transfer. If you plan to explore Crete, a hire car is usually more practical.

Coming from the US or another long-haul destination? Avoid arriving the day before the wedding. At least one buffer night makes delayed connections, lost luggage and jet lag much easier to manage.

A few arrival tips for wedding guests:

  • Pack the wedding outfit in your hand luggage.
  • If households land at different times, tell Argyris each arrival time so every villa is ready.
  • Ask for child seats or an accessible vehicle when you book a transfer.
  • Guests with reduced mobility can request free assistance at EU airports.
  • Check entry requirements on official pages, for example the US State Department or UK travel advice.

A Suggested Six-Night Wedding Stay

Three nights before the wedding, the wedding night and two nights after leave time to arrive, celebrate, recover and see some of Crete. A suggestion, not a fixed programme:

DayPlan
1 · ArrivalEach household settles into its villa: keys, parking, rooms, nothing else. This day absorbs delayed flights.
2 · Welcome eveningFinal venue details for the couple; a free day for everyone else. In the evening, dinner all together at the village taverna, or a Cretan night nearby every Thursday and Friday from late April to mid-October, with dinner, live Cretan music and dancing. Argyris can help book a table.
3 · PreparationClothes pressed, hair and beauty confirmed, the wedding-night transfer agreed and shared.
4 · The weddingA flexible breakfast, getting ready at the villas, and leaving in good time. Tell Argyris in advance if a photographer or stylist will visit.
5 · RecoveryLeave the morning free. Separate homes let some people rest while others share breakfast or use the pool.
6 · CreteOne proper day out: Rethymno old town, the beaches, Arkadi, the mountain villages or a long lunch.
7 · DepartureA slow final breakfast before the flights home.

Staying longer? The villas are a good base for exploring Crete: Rethymno is about 15 minutes away, Heraklion about 60–70 minutes and Chania about 75 minutes, so guests can see all three cities and come back to the same villa every evening. More in How to Organise a Wedding Guest Stay.

Travelling with Children, Grandparents or Mobility Needs?

Do not choose from the bedroom count alone. Before booking, check:

  • which floor each bedroom is on;
  • entrance steps and the route from parking to the door;
  • bathroom access;
  • the walk between the villas, for MAZI.

Argyris can match each household to the layout that suits it. None of the villas is wheelchair accessible.

When Should You Check Availability?

Most weddings in Crete take place between spring and autumn. July and August are hot, with warm evenings; May, June, September and October are milder, and spring and autumn evenings can be cool, so bring a light layer.

Check availability as early as possible, especially for high season. If two or three villas need to be free on the same dates, check the combination early: MAZI depends on every villa being available at the same time. The minimum stay follows the villas and dates you choose.

Before You Book

  • MAZI is Villa Asteri, Villa Kitron and Villa Myrrini in Asteri Village, for up to 20 guests.
  • Villa Argiris is a separate villa in Stavromenos, not part of MAZI, with its own availability, booking and payment.
  • Booking: for MAZI, one enquiry and one combined proposal; each villa keeps its own booking reference and payment.
  • Minimum stay: varies by villa and season, and the booking engine confirms it for your dates.
  • Transport is not included and is arranged with independent providers.
  • Accommodation only: the villas are not a wedding or event venue.

Where to stay. Agreco Farm has no rooms on site, so each household books its own stay. We recommend Amazing Villas in Crete, four private villas with pools about 10–15 minutes from the venue: Villa Asteri, Villa Kitron and Villa Myrrini in Asteri Village, and Villa Argiris in Stavromenos. Several households can stay close together in two or three villas in Asteri Village (MAZI).

Getting there. Fly into Heraklion (approx. 73 km) or Chania (approx. 79 km). A hire car is useful for the rest of the week; on the wedding day we are arranging [a private transfer / details] to the ceremony and back.

Booking. Book as early as you can. Contact Argyris, the owner, at info@amazingvillasincrete.com or on WhatsApp, and mention our wedding on [date].

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where to stay

Where do guests stay for a wedding at Agreco Farm?

Agreco Farm’s official wedding page states that there is no residential accommodation at the farm (checked 19 September 2026) and suggests Grecotel resorts in Rethymno. Many families and groups prefer a private villa nearby, with their own kitchen, living space and pool. Confirm availability for the wedding dates.

Which villa may suit guests attending an Agreco Farm wedding?

Villa Asteri and Villa Argiris in Stavromenos may each suit up to eight guests, while Villa Kitron and Villa Myrrini each suit up to six. Villa Asteri, Villa Kitron and Villa Myrrini are in Asteri Village; Villa Argiris is in Stavromenos, approximately 9 km from the venue via the coastal road. The better fit depends on the household split, bedroom and bathroom priorities, and availability for the wedding dates.

Can several households stay close to one another?

Yes. MAZI brings together two or three of Villa Asteri, Villa Kitron and Villa Myrrini in Asteri Village, for up to 12, 14 or 20 guests across separate private homes.

Can we book just one or two villas for the families?

Yes. One possible arrangement is for the couple to take one or two villas for the bride’s and groom’s families, while the remaining guests arrange their own accommodation. Two villas give each side its own house, kitchen and wedding morning. Availability is confirmed for the actual dates.

Can other guests book a villa separately, in their own name?

Yes. For standalone villas, another guest household can book a remaining villa in its own name, with its own dates, booking and payment. For MAZI, the group sends one coordinated enquiry and receives one combined proposal; each villa then keeps its own booking reference and payment.

What if we are more than 20 guests?

Villa Argiris is a separate villa in Stavromenos, about 2.6 km from Asteri Village. It is not part of MAZI or an extension of it: it has its own availability, booking reference, payment and travel plan. Together, MAZI and Villa Argiris can accommodate up to 28 guests in two locations.

Getting there and back

How far are the villas from Agreco Farm?

The three villas in Asteri Village are approximately 6.5 km from Agreco Farm by the inland road, about 10 minutes, or approximately 11.5 km via the coastal road. Villa Argiris in Stavromenos is approximately 9 km following the coastal road. The three Asteri properties and Villa Argiris in Stavromenos are east of Rethymno, on the same side of the town as the venue, so guests do not cross the city on the way to or from the wedding. Journey time depends on the route, the season and the time of night, so check current navigation for your dates.

Can Amazing Villas in Crete help with cars or transport with a driver?

Argyris can help guests arrange car hire, private transfers with a driver or larger vehicles for group transport through independent local providers. Availability, vehicle type, price and booking terms are confirmed by the provider for the specific dates. On the wedding day we recommend a private transfer to the ceremony and reception and back to the villas, so nobody needs to drive after the celebration.

Planning the stay

When should wedding guests book?

As early as possible. The villas are private homes with limited dates, so the earlier guests book, the more choice they have, especially in high season. Availability is confirmed for the actual dates.

How many nights should wedding guests stay?

There is no fixed answer, but a six-night stay works well: arrival, a day for the venue and final details, a day of final preparation, the wedding, a recovery day and one day to see something of Crete before departure. Households may not arrive on the same day, so the group needs time to assemble before the celebration rather than after it.

Is there a minimum stay?

Yes. The minimum stay varies by villa and season, and the booking engine confirms it for your dates. For a wedding weekend or another short stay, ask Argyris what is possible.

Can photographers or stylists come to the villa?

Yes, guests can get ready for the wedding at the villas. Professional access is not automatic: share the request before arrival so that the access and timing can be confirmed.

Can we have a welcome gathering for the guests?

Some groups choose an informal welcome meal at a local taverna. Argyris can suggest suitable places in and around Asteri. Availability, group size, menu, price and booking terms are confirmed directly with the business.

Check the Dates, Then Build the Room Plan

Start by confirming what is available for your dates: one villa, two villas for the two families, separate bookings by different households, or a two- or three-villa MAZI arrangement. Then send Argyris the household groups and bedroom priorities so the stay can be planned around real people rather than a headline capacity.
