Driving and Parking at Amazing Villas in Crete

A car is recommended for most stays because it gives guests greater flexibility for shopping, beaches, villages and day trips. The final approach and parking arrangement differ between the four villas, so the most useful information is the detail for the house you have actually booked.

The Final Approach

The main journey brings you towards the Rethymno region, but the final approach differs between Asteri Village and Villa Argiris in Stavromenos. Follow the villa-specific map link and access notes sent before arrival, and take the final section slowly, particularly on your first visit or after dark.

Your arrival information, sent roughly two weeks before you travel, includes a map link for the specific villa you have booked, along with access notes written for that house.

Please use it rather than searching our name in a map application. We have four separate villas in two different places, and a brand search cannot tell them apart. Save the link before you travel, and consider downloading the relevant offline map area as a backup.

Parking Differs from Villa to Villa

This is the part guests most often assume, and it is the part that is genuinely different at each house.

Villa Asteri, Villa Kitron and Villa Myrrini are three separate properties in Asteri village. Villa Argiris is in Stavromenos. They are individual houses in different settings, and their approaches, parking arrangements and entrances are not the same as one another.

Your arrival information includes the final approach and the parking for the house you have booked. If you want to know more before you book, ask: it is a one-message answer.

When to Ask Before You Book

Guests bringing more than one vehicle, an unusually large vehicle or equipment such as bicycles or a trailer should ask Argyris before booking so that the arrangement for the specific villa can be checked.

It is also worth asking in advance if:

  • you have booked or intend to book a larger vehicle, such as a people carrier, a van or anything longer or higher than a standard hire car;
  • someone in your group has mobility needs, in which case the distance and surface between the parking area and the door matter more than the parking itself;
  • you expect to arrive very late and would like to know what the final approach looks like in the dark.

In each case you will get the facts for your villa rather than a general reassurance. If something would genuinely be awkward, we would far rather tell you at the booking stage.

Choosing a Hire Car

Choose the vehicle according to the number of passengers, luggage and child-seat requirements rather than assuming that the largest option will be the most practical. If the group needs a people carrier, van, more than one car or additional equipment, mention it when requesting the car hire and ask Argyris whether anything about the villa access or parking needs to be considered.

Ask Argyris if you would like a suggestion for a car hire company. Availability and price are confirmed separately by the provider.

Two Cars, or More

Groups often need more than one vehicle, particularly when households want different plans on different days.

Say so early. It may affect the parking and arrival arrangements that need to be confirmed for the villa, and it is much easier to plan at the enquiry stage than on the day everyone arrives.

Driving Elsewhere in Crete

For journeys beyond the villas, use current navigation and allow additional time for unfamiliar routes, mountain roads or trips to the south coast. Follow local road and parking signs, particularly in Rethymno and other towns, rather than relying on a general instruction written in advance.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a car for a villa stay?

A car is recommended for most stays because it gives you greater flexibility for shopping, beaches, villages and day trips.

Where do I park at the villa?

Parking differs from villa to villa: Villa Asteri 2 cars · Villa Kitron 2 cars of any size · Villa Myrrini 2 small cars or 1 large · Villa Argiris 3 large cars or 2 minivans. Free EV charging (Type 2, up to 22 kW) is available on request at the three villas in Asteri Village, not at Villa Argiris.

Can we bring two cars?

Groups often need more than one vehicle. Say so early, because it may affect the parking and arrival arrangements that need to be confirmed for the villa.

Should I rent a people carrier or a van?

Choose the vehicle by passengers, luggage and child seats rather than assuming the largest option is the most practical. If you need a people carrier, a van or anything longer or higher than a standard hire car, ask Argyris whether villa access or parking needs to be considered.

Can I find the villa with a map search?

Use the map link sent for the specific villa you have booked rather than searching the name. There are four separate villas in two different places, and a brand search cannot tell them apart.

What if someone in our group has mobility needs?

Ask before booking, because the distance and surface between the parking area and the door matter more than the parking itself. You will be given the facts for your villa rather than a general reassurance.

In Short

Use the villa-specific map link, take the final approach slowly and tell Argyris in advance about multiple vehicles, unusually large vehicles, trailers, bicycles or mobility requirements. That allows the practical access and parking arrangement to be checked for the villa you have booked.
